Many people who think about attending golf school are hoping to have a leisurely educational experience. If you look for a golf school that is easy on you then you’re going to probably have fun in school but you’re going to find it tough to get (and keep) golf course jobs in the future. Instead, you want to look into golf management schools that really challenge you and prepare you for a future of working in this fun industry.
There’s nothing wrong with having fun during your time in college especially if you’re attending a golf school. However, you’re there to learn and if you’re not being challenged then you’re really not getting the education that you need to be able to get a good job. If this is your approach then you should skip golf school and just learn golf as a hobby.
However, if you do want to work in the industry then golf school is the best route to getting you there. Look into challenging schools like SDGA which will combine intense academic study with experience on the golf course. This type of education will show you what working in the golf business will really be like.

Yeah, this blog has it right. If you’re not challenged, then you don’t grow as a player.
Golf is fun, but if you want to makes some real money in this business, you need to get into running a pro shop, managing a course, or being a pro at a high-end country club.
I play golf like I do everything else: I go at it hard and play to win. Going to an easy golf school is a waste of time.
For guys like me, who just want to be around a golf course, learning how to run and manage a course is just as important as playing well. Only a few players really make a lot of money on the pro tour.
Breaking into the world of professional golfing is so hard, I think I’d rather manage or design courses instead of trying to make it on my golf skills. Hey, a man has to know his limits.
Friends of mine who have attended SDGA training tell me that it’s really worth the money that it costs.
I’m pretty sure that golf is a good field to get into because golfers are so passionate about the game, they’ll continue playing no matter how bad the economy gets.
Golf is one of those things that you’re either really passionate about, or you just don’t care about. Me, I’ll be playing till they pry the club out of my cold, dead hands.
You should always attend a challenging golf school because that will bring out the best in your game. If you aren’t challenged, you won’t grow.
