The twenty-first century college student should start a blog before even beginning college and make sure to maintain it throughout the time that he is in school. Doing so has social, educational and professional benefits that can make the difference between a "good" and "great" college experience.
Here are just a few of the reasons to blog during college:
- It gives you a place to vent. College is a time of ups and downs and you need an emotional release.
- It serves as a portfolio of your work. Writing samples along with a demonstration of your web skills will be built up over time.
- Web presence enhances your credibility. Having a professional blog makes people take you more seriously.
- You can earn some money from ad revenue. It won’t be a lot but college students need every little bit they can get.
- You’ll meet a lot of people. Online social networking is one of the best ways to get a good job straight out of college.
- It gives you experience. Blogging teaches you about business, marketing, setting a work schedule and other things that it’s better to learn sooner rather than later.
Consider starting a blog today if you don’t have one set up already. Commit to updating it weekly throughout college. The benefits will be worth the effort you expend.
