People who have recently graduated from culinary school often want to go work in San Francisco. Why is that? It’s because San Francisco restaurants have a lot to offer their staff that you can’t always find at restaurants in other cities.
Some of the best things about working in San Francisco restaurants include:
- Appreciation of your creativity. This is a city that wants people to be who they are. You can express yourself through your cooking here in a way that you can’t in other places.
- Great local ingredients. There’s a big local foods movement among San Francisco restaurants. You get great fresh local food. Plus you’re part of a community that includes local growers.
- Good money. The people who work in restaurants in this city often earn more money than their friends working at restaurants in other parts of the country.
- Great mentors. There are a lot of really well-known chefs working in San Francisco’s top restaurants. It’s great to be able to learn from these people while you’re on the job.
Of course, the main reason that people want to work in San Francisco restaurants is because they really just want to live in San Francisco!
